Abstract: The dataset contains information on the number of new house buildings, reconstructions and retail sales (Einzelhandelsumsatz) on the national level for the years 1952 to 1989. For the years 1955 to 1989 the data also contains information on the canton (Bezirk) level. The information is based on the Statistical Yearbooks of the German Democratic Republic.
