Abstract: Life and job situation of the German population and foreign workers in a Cologne part of town (pretest survey). Topics: The current study served as a pretest for the primary investigations described in ZA Study Nos. 1043 and 1044 (see description there). The major topics of these investigations are thus largely identical. Besides the methodological screening of the research instruments the pretest additionally helped in the decision about the use of survey procedure (written or oral survey). Geographic coverage: , Cologne (Old-Town north)
Universe: German and foreign residents of the northern Old-Town from the resident registry. Selected were persons over 18 years old of the following nationalities: Greek, Italian, Yugoslav, Spanish, Turkish and German.

Sampling Procedure: Simple random selection
Mode of Data Collection: Oral survey with standardized questionnaire as well as written survey
