The long-term rate of return of german stock 1870 to 1959

Abstract: History of German capital market.
Ronge computes a constant historical stock index on the basis of a constant kept stock-portfolio, which retraces the development till the 19th century.
Note:
Only the time series data of the index levels from 1870 to 1959 were entered into the online data base HISTAT (Historical Statistics). The total stock of the study´s data is archived under the study-number ZA8281 and is available on request.
