Most notably, we updated the data to contain elected politicians up to March 2023, that is, up to and including the Berlin repeat state elections. Due to changes in Twitter/Xs research access policy, the Bremen state elections in May 2023 could not be included in the update. As before, politicians incumbent at the time of observation have a missing "until" field, indicating that the date of their departure from office is (as of yet) unknown. Furthermore, we expanded the data to contain all elected politicians, regardless of them having a Twitter account. For politicians without a twitter account at the time of observation, the information regarding Twitter (user_id, twitter_handle and twitter_name) is simply missing. All other information, such as office incumbency, wikidata ID or abgeordnetenwatch ID, however, is included. Finally, we double-checked some information such as (self-ascribed) gender, age and party with the abgeordnetenwatch database. When values differed from the information originally retrieved from wikidata, the abgeordnetenwatch database was authoritative. Information such as twitter ID and abgeordnetenwatch ID of the politicians were additionally uploaded to wikidata and can be retrieved from there. Note, however, that data such as office or party membership may not always be correct on wikidata, as we did not edit these entries.
