Abstract: Collective biographical investigation of the German cathedral
chapters which fulfilled both important spiritual as well as worldly
functions until their dissolution in the course of secularization.
Topics: Status and class increases, reason and time of entry and
leaving, academic degrees, dignities and ´Personate´, geographic
origins, cumulations.

Date(s) of Data Collection: 1600 - 1800
Geographic coverage: Historical German lands (-1871) (DQDE)
Universe: The 5725 members (´canons´) of all 24 old German cathedral
chapters of those territories that had a seat and voice in the
Reichstag and belonged to the Reich church in the stricter sense
(these are: Augsburg, Bamberg, Basel, Brixen, Chur, Eichstaett,
Freising, Hildesheim, Cologne, Constance, Luettich, Mainz, Muenster,
